Start with the end in mind.

Everyone knows this, but so often we get caught up and stuck in the "doing", and where we're going gets lost somewhere along the way.

A couple of years ago I was excited to be working on a new project.  One of the first discussions I had with my business partner was what the process would be to wind up said project.  How will we know when we're finished and how will the business be wound up?  Well this project came to fruition, we worked it well and then wound the business when it had run its course.  It was a true testament to the philosophy of "starting with the end in mind".

Starting with the end in mind can relate to anything.  Starting a new business? Planning a garden?  Building a home?  Spring cleaning?  Downsizing?  Moving home?  A friend of mine says "all beautiful rooms start with the floor".  Of course, good foundations are essential.  The next step is to know where you're going, or what you're doing before you set out on your adventure.

Use line of sight management.  Get some expert advice, know where you want to end up and how you want to wind up.  Finally, work out your action plan and start working.  This will save you HEAPS of time - and who doesn't love that??!!

Onwards and upwards (or should I say backwards)!
