‘Tis the season

It comes around every year! Whatever you’re doing during your annual celebrations, I hope you have fun, are around friends and family, and make the most of the festive season.

If you’re feeling a bit stressed coming up to the festive break, you may find these time management tips helpful:

  • Don’t feel like you need to go to EVERY Christmas party or function leading up to the big day.  I suggest to my clients to be selective about what they attend.  Do they really want to or need to go to every party?  You don’t have to roll into the Christmas break totally exhausted.  It’s ok to say no.
  • Look at your options for Christmas giving.  Are you exacerbating someone’s clutter issues by purchasing excessive gifts?  I know some people, myself included, like to purchase presents for family and friends.  This year I’m buying experiences as gifts.  Most of my family have everything they actually need so I’m hoping massages, movie tickets etc are well received.
  • I know I’ve said it before, you need to write a list.  Santa does it and checks it twice!  But seriously, if you’re worried about running out of time for gift purchases before the big day, the answer is in the planning (and your list).  Sit down, write out who you need to purchase for and brainstorm some ideas for presents.  This way you will go shopping on a mission, not wander aimlessly around the shops and maybe leave with nothing.
